A closely cropped portrait focused on the face and expression.
Medium Portraits - 18 × 24 in. · $750
Head and shoulders with more room for gesture, clothing and personality.
Figures - 36 × 48 in. · $1000
A large-scale figurative portrait with room for a more movement and dynamic pose.

A portrait should feel like the person.
I create original oil portraits from photographs, with a focus on expression, personality and the small details that make someone recognizable beyond simply capturing a likeness.
The best references aren’t always the most polished photographs. I’m drawn to expressions, movement, interesting angles and the moments that feel particularly them.
You don’t need a professional photograph. Candid images often make the most interesting paintings.
Look for photos with:
A clear view of the face
Interesting expressions
Interesting light or shadow
Personality, movement or gesture
Enough detail for me to work from
Awkward expressions, squished cheeks, wrinkles, laughter, side-eyes and unusual angles are very welcome.
If you have several possibilities, send them all. I’m happy to help choose the image that will translate best into a painting.
A few things to note:
My portraits are painted in my own style rather than as photographic reproductions. Brushwork, colour and interpretation are part of the finished piece.
If the portrait is intended as a gift or needed for a particular date, please mention that when you inquire so we can discuss timing before confirming the commission.
